The most complete transformation available for a Classic Mini.

The Rogue Se7ens R7 body shell is not a restoration panel — it is a ground-up reimagining of the Classic Mini body in composite materials, built to accept modern powertrains and contemporary chassis engineering while keeping the silhouette that makes the Mini one of the most recognizable cars ever made.

Each shell is fabricated by hand in Arizona. Production is intentionally limited to approximately three shells per year, ensuring every build receives the attention it requires. If you are serious about a shell build, the conversation starts here.

Two configurations

Full shell — includes floor, bulkheads, and structural body. The rear seat area remains open and usable. The full shell can be built as a true monocoque with an integrated internal carbon structure for rigidity, or as a straight shell requiring a roll cage installation for structural stiffness. For any performance application, a full roll cage is strongly recommended regardless of shell specification — it adds safety, reduces chassis flex, and allows a lighter laminate schedule throughout.

Upper shell — designed to sit on a tube frame chassis. The tube frame provides all structural integrity, allowing the carbon body to be built at minimum weight. This is the preferred configuration for dedicated competition cars and mid-engine tube frame builds where the chassis is engineered from scratch.

Material options

Fiberglass — the practical choice for budget-conscious builds, street cars, and projects where weight is a secondary consideration. Fiberglass shells offer excellent durability, are easier to repair, and can be painted and finished to a high standard. A fiberglass upper shell is the most accessible entry point into an R7 build.

Carbon fiber — for builds where weight is the priority. Carbon fiber offers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any production material, producing a shell that is dramatically lighter than steel or fiberglass equivalents. Full carbon shells range from approximately 100 to 150 lb / 45 to 68 kg depending on laminate specification and cage configuration. The lightest builds are achieved when a full roll cage is used alongside a race laminate schedule.

Exterior styling options

The R7 is not a single fixed design. Exterior styling is discussed and agreed at order time and can range from a faithful Mk1 stock appearance to full wide body and race configurations. Options include:

  • Stock Mk1 silhouette
  • Widened fender flares — available in multiple widths
  • Wide body configuration
  • Race shell styling referencing the classic GT5 and Fortec race cars
  • Selection of arches, spoilers, and scoops
  • Glued-in windscreens
  • Roll-up side windows
  • Aero components integrated at build time

Powertrain applications

The R7 shell is designed with modern powertrain conversions in mind. The primary application is mid-engine — placing the engine behind the driver transforms the Mini's handling dynamics, delivering weight distribution and balance that the original front-engine layout cannot match.

Mid-engine applications — the Honda K20 is the preferred choice. A naturally aspirated K20 in a lightweight Mini shell produces a power-to-weight ratio that puts serious purpose-built sports cars on notice. Motorcycle engines — including the Suzuki Hayabusa and BMW S1000RR — are also proven and popular in this application, offering exceptional power-to-weight in an extremely compact package.

Front-engine applications — the R7 shell also accommodates traditional front-engine builds. Honda B and K series front-mount conversions, as well as built A-series engines, are all viable. Front engine builds benefit from the shell's weight savings and styling options without the additional complexity of a mid-engine layout.

Who builds with an R7 shell

The R7 appeals to two distinct groups of builders and is designed to serve both.

Competition builders — hill climb, autocross, time attack, and circuit racers building a dedicated car around a tube frame chassis. The upper shell in carbon is the natural choice — minimum weight, maximum flexibility in chassis design, the Mini silhouette without any compromises forced by the original monocoque structure.

Street and track-day builders — enthusiasts building a car that is driven on the road and occasionally on track. The full shell, in carbon or fiberglass, allows a complete and road-usable interior while delivering a fundamentally different car to anything achievable with a steel Mini body.

Process

Every R7 shell begins with a conversation. Powertrain, intended use, chassis approach, styling preferences, and laminate specification all need to be established before production begins. Lead times reflect the handmade nature of each build.
