The original Mini was designed to be simple, efficient, and light. This guide shows how carbon fiber body panels honour that original philosophy — and what the numbers actually look like when steel gives way to carbon.

Weights stated are measured figures for specific components. Shell weights are approximate ranges dependent on laminate specification and cage configuration. All parts are special order — built to your specification.

The original philosophy

Born simple. Born light.

The original Classic Mini was a masterpiece of deliberate simplicity. Alec Issigonis designed it to be small, efficient, and as light as the engineering of the era would allow. That commitment to low mass was not incidental — it was the foundation of everything the Mini did well. Its handling, its agility, its outsized personality relative to its tiny dimensions: all of it began with weight.

Decades of restoration and modification have often worked against that founding principle. Modern builds regularly add mass through upgraded engines, roll cages, sound deadening, improved equipment, and additional safety hardware. Each addition is understandable in isolation. Cumulatively, they can fundamentally change the character of the car.

Carbon fiber body panels offer a way to restore some of what has been added back — or to build something lighter than the original ever was. The savings are real, they are significant, and because every Rogue Se7ens part is fabricated in-house in Arizona, they are available in the specification that actually matches your build.

The carbon body shell

Replacing the entire steel body with carbon fiber is the most comprehensive weight reduction available for a Classic Mini. Two configurations are offered — a full body shell for street and competition builds, and a lighter upper shell for tube frame race cars. Both are available to order directly.

For dedicated competition cars running a tube frame chassis, the upper shell delivers the lowest possible body weight while retaining the Classic Mini silhouette. The frame handles all structural loads — the carbon is purely bodywork in this application. Confirm class regulations with us before ordering.

Roll cage — recommended for safety and structural integrity

A full roll cage is strongly recommended for any build using a carbon fiber body shell. The cage provides the structural stiffness and crash protection that a steel monocoque would otherwise supply. Without a cage, the carbon shell must be built with a heavier laminate schedule to maintain rigidity — this still represents a major improvement over steel, but the weight saving is smaller. With a properly designed cage, a lighter laminate can be used safely, achieving the lowest possible shell weight. Discuss your intended use and build configuration with us before specifying laminate.

At 6 lb / 2.7 kg each, carbon doors are among the most dramatic single-component upgrades available. Factory Mk1 steel doors weigh 20 lb / 9.1 kg each — no hardware, no glass. The carbon replacements are 70% lighter. Mass removed at the extremities of the car also reduces unsprung weight and rotational inertia, making the Mini feel more responsive in every direction change. A pair of carbon doors is a transformation, not a refinement. Stock weight stated for no hardware or glass.

Beyond structural panels, Rogue Se7ens produces carbon fiber wheel arch extensions, aerodynamic spoilers, and rear wings. These parts serve functional purposes without adding meaningful mass — keeping the build lean while improving appearance and, where relevant, aerodynamic performance. Laminate schedules

Street vs. race

Because every part is fabricated in-house, the laminate is specified at build time to match the car's intended use. On structural body panels, this distinction matters significantly — both for weight and for safety. It is worth understanding before you order.

The cage and laminate relationship: A race laminate shell or panel set saves the most weight but depends on a roll cage to provide structural stiffness and crash protection. Without a cage, the carbon shell uses a heavier layup to maintain rigidity — still a major improvement over steel, but the weight saving is smaller. This conversation should happen before any order is placed. We'll help you arrive at the right specification for your build, your intended use, and any class regulations that apply.
