Yes, you can change the distance between the ramps since they are not physically connected with anything other than sliding bars.  One of my 'requirements' when I built them was that I wanted them to be easily stored.  On their side in the garage, they are out of the way.

I like it.  Is the width variable?

That part could help me out with my interior decisions.

Sounds good.
I know they're pretty basic but I can't remember how the pivot was done.

A couple of years ago I made some vehicle service ramps so that I could work underneath my cars without having to put them on jackstands.  I have used the ramps a few times now, mainly for oil changes and exhaust work on my '07 MINI but I did use them when installing my KAD Quickshift on my '73 Mini as well.

Basically, they're two 1'x10' beams built with 0.120 wall square tubing.  I place them on the ground, then put the jackstands under the front and run tubing through the ends to stabilize the ramps.  Then drive the car up the ramps.  Sometimes, like in this instance, I want more access so I jack the rear of the ramps up and put floor jacks under the rear of the ramps.  In the picture shown there's 21" between the floor and underside of the MINI.

I'll take a picture of my MKIII visors so you can see what I mean.  I'm still thinking of taking a drive to CG to check out your work but I've been waiting for the weather to cool down.  I can show you the visors in person when I do that.  Perhaps next week.

I think it's a great idea.  It's been a couple years since I've had a newer Mini so I can't quite remember what the visors look like, the MKI are very simple.

Wow, an early 130mph Cooper S speedo, looks like the one on my shelf in my garage!

Hi guys --

My sun visors are all sloppy floppy and don't do the job.  I thought it might be a nice touch to try to find new visors made out of fiberglass or carbon fiber.  I had a friend that wanted to put small LED displays in some homemade fiberglass sun visors to play PS3 or XBox games in his car (ugh, not my idea of neat but it was an interesting idea).  Any thoughts?
