Vented Mini Bonnet / Hood

Here’s a project I’ve been doing some work on over the last couple weeks.  Basically it’s a bonnet for the mid engined Mini kits like Z Cars with the rad up front.  The Z Cars Mini shown in an earlier post has their standard bonnet overlaid in carbon.  The idea behind this project is to make something with a little different design and a part that can be supplied as a full carbon piece.  The pictures below are of the prototype and the part sill needs finishing but I’m hoping to get a little feed back on the overall look.  Please forgive the pictures, they were taken with my phone.

Blue Carbon Kevlar Classic Mini Headlight Rings

I’ve posted some info on the Classic Mini headlight rings in the past but want to share the pictures of them in the blue carbon kevlar.  As with the boot lid shown earlier, I really like the blue material and the depth of the color.  Most parts can be ordered in a variety of weaves including carbon kevlar and carbon basalt.  This set is currently for sale for $80.00 including shipping within the US.

Classic Mini Smooth Carbon Kevlar Boot Lid

The biggest problem with the smooth Mini boot lid is probably placement of the license plate, however it does make for a nice look.  I’ve seen some place the plate in the rear bumper area or up by the rear window and there are probably some other creative ideas for this.  Of course race applications make sense since you don’t have to worry about the plate.

The picture below is of one of my smooth lids done in blue / black carbon kevlar.  I don’t get many request for carbon kevlar but in many cases I prefer the look to straight carbon, and the blue is one of my favorites.  This lid didn’t turn out quite right since the weave got off a bit and is being sold at a reduced price, but it does give an idea of the over look of both the smooth lid and the blue material.

New R7 modified Classic Mini forum

A new forum has been added to the RogueSe7ens site.  This forum is specifically geared toward modifying the Classic Mini, not to say anything against a stock or well restored Mini, but there are many who would like to take theirs to the next step or performance and style.

Scion xD carbon cowl scoop

Earlier I’d posted some pics of the new carbon cowl scoop for the Scion xD and now have some better pics of the first couple production parts in orange carbon kevlar.  These scoops are now being sold with either the scoop in exposed carbon and the base (part under the hood) in black, or the full piece in matte black.  Please email with any questions.

Classic Mini ‘bulged bonnet’

Awhile back I posted a few pics of a  bulged bonnet / hood I was working on and referred to it as a 16v / turbo hood.  I made the mold of the bonnet but just didn’t have time to do much more with it until recently and now that I’ve made a sample part I also was able to finish the scoop that I told a few about early on.

The pictures here show the ‘bulged bonnet’ with the scoop grafted on.   The bulge gives another couple inches of clearance above the stock bonnet for taller engines and/or an intercooler placement.  With the working scoop, fresh air can also easily be directed to the carbs on a standard A series engine.

This sample will be sold off and hopefully I’ll get some feedback.  For now the bonnet itself will probably only be offed in fiberglass with carbon ones available later on, however the scoop will be offered in either glass or carbon.

I appreciate any comments on this item (e-mails please) and will be looking for a buyer to help try it out.

Full Custom Classic Mini

Last year I was able to provide some parts for Lyle Engleson’s Z Cars Mini.  With a highly modified K20 mid engine and full custom body work, this car has been winning many shows and has now been featured in a few magazines.  If you like Minis or just cars in general I highly recommend searching for more info on this extreme machine.  Here are just a few pics showing the carbon work and you can find much more at  audioprofiles.com .

Austin / Classic Mini full carbon boot lid

The pictures below are of a couple full carbon Classic Mini boot lids I’ve recently finished.  Of course full carbon parts can be very light weight and yet quite strong, the examples below have the full frame on the back side and are made to be used with stock hinges and latch /  handle.  The stock boot lid weighs around 8 or 9 pound and the full carbon parts come in at right around one pound.

Mini Cooper Carbon Dash, Down Tubes, and More

I’ve still been buried with orders lately but would like to post a few pics of some of the carbon overlay work I’ve recently sent out.

First are some Mini Cooper interior parts including a three piece dash, the shifter ring, cup holder, steering wheel inserts and down tubes.  The other pics are a few BMW E36 parts including a front lip, rear diffuser and a variety of interior parts.

I’ll try to post some more info on Mini down tubes soon, since I’ve been receiving some requests for info lately.  I’ll also post some pics of a Classic Mini boot lid that is going out.

Classic Mini Center Gauge Pod

Just a quick update on the gauge pod /  binnacle:

The pictures are of the second part from the new mold.  Again I used green carbon kevlar and while I was at it I made a set of headlight rings from a new mold I made for them.  Parts are also in green.  I just need to finish up the mounting area for the headlight rings and they sould be ready to go and I’ll be able to start producing these.
